i’ve been talking about getting a pair of warm boots for years and years and i just keep buying not-very-warm boots instead of investing in a pair that is lined. i really really hate the way Uggs look, but then i found these babies. hello loves. i love you.
dropping $300 on a pair of boots is not really what i can afford right now, but then something truly magical happened: while cleaning out my studio, i found 4 savings bonds dated from 1993-1996 that i never cashed. this is why my dad is a genius: when we were growing up (i have 3 siblings) we were required to “save” 10% of our allowance every month. so, my dad would hand us our allowance, and we would hand 10% of it back. my dad would put this money into savings bonds for us and then he gave them to us when we graduated from high school.
in 1993, i was 14-years-old. it’s 2012 and i just found $200 worth of savings bonds from when i was a teenager. so, technically, i’ve been “saving” up for something awesome for almost 20 years. clearly, i couldn’t just put $200-worth of savings into something like bills or groceries. i mean, i’ve been literally “saving” this money for more than half my life-time, so i had to buy something i’ve been wanting for years.
so, i bought uggs. and i love them.
my feet are toasty. and i consider them a 20-year investment.
