house renovation updates: patio!

we have SO much going on with our house renovations, i can’t keep up on pictures! super exciting. less is actually happening in the house, but outside, things are finally taking shape. i’m still trying to edit all the pictures, so they’ll come in batches this week. first up: the patio is almost there! we hired a great mason to finish the top C had started: it took 5 days to complete. C laid the steps and the walk-way up the side of the house. here are a few pictures i snapped today: promise to post some better ones this week.

*view from the side walk and steps C built:

*same view from the patio:

*view from far corner. there will be a set of doors in the wall on the right side of the picture:

*view from the back yard: C is going to lay the rest of the flag stone at the bottom of the back steps and we’ll be landscaping around the edges at some point this summer. the steal beams running out of the back of the house are for the cantilevered deck C is going to build in the future:

*this is the view from the driveway side, where there is a set of steps that lead to the driveway. you can see the conduit for the lighting in the bottom right corner. when the downstairs is done, there will be another set of doors opening to the patio where the current door is now:

*other than a massive clean-up of leaves, left-over stone, landscaping, etc., up next is the soaking pool. C sanded it down last week and is building the decking for it. we were out there for 5 hours today. i learned to drill concrete. it was dusty & fun.

*best part: the soaking pool will have LED lighting! perfect for evening patio parties!

more on the pool and better patio pics tomorrow!
