color study orange: thumbs up, thumbs down
Just got the May Anthro catalog. I don’t LOVE anything, which is slightly disappointing. Not that I buy much at Anthro anyway, but I always enjoy looking at their catalogs for inspiration. My only thumbs-up are these two tanks, neither of which I would wear in orange or turquoise: They do come in white, but [...]

score!
Been trying to find an adjustable stool that I could use at my yet-to-be-built studio table: something with a back and isn’t ridiculously expensive. Being 5’9″, I’ve always wanted things to be just a wee bit taller (kitchen counters, sinks, desks, tables) so I can stand without getting back and neck pain while working. C [...]

labeling
I got tired of trying to guess what drawer of the 60 would contain what I was looking for, so I started labeling this morning… My glue-gun adventure was short-lived, so I gave up on it. But not before Mustard chewed up an entire glue stick while I wasn’t looking. Good times.

chchchch-changes
Might seem obvious, but I haven’t been posting much here lately. For the first time in a very long time, I actually haven’t wanted to. That’s an odd feeling to have, because I love writing and sharing pictures with all of you, and I’ve come to the realization that I simply haven’t been in the [...]

holy moments
We had a weekend of holy moments, and I’m not talkin’ about Easter. Here’s the run-down, complete with blurry iphone pictures… The washer and dryer that have been sitting amid the upstairs construction (for two years now) were installed. There might be a fight about who gets to press all of the buttons first: Equally [...]

fabric and fiber storage
Most of my fabrics and various materials (yarn, ribbon, leather, notions) have been living in plastic bins for the last 4 years. I need to come up with some ideas for storing materials in my new studio that are easily accessible to me, but not to our kitty, Mr. Mustard. Like most cats, Mustard is [...]

autumn realizations
I’ve had exactly 3 realizations this week about my life right now: 1. I have a ridiculous amount of editions of Everyday Food: including the very first edition (circa 2003?): which I discovered while packing up our kitchen yesterday in preparation of taking a few large crow-bars to every inch of it. After taking these [...]

purple
I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want to do creatively this fall. The house has been inching along, much slower than we had hoped, but at least I’m actually having realistic moments of pure excitement that I might actually get to work in my studio before 2009 is over. I spent three afternoons [...]
hello july
Happy July! I’ve always loved the month of July. I think that growing up in the Finger Lakes makes you love the warm summer months because the lakes are warm enough to swim in by the holiday weekend. We’re not headed to the lakes this year, but I am turning 30 on Sunday (woohoo!) and [...]
