blackberry stitches

i’ve been trying to revisit my new years goals and have been working away at goal #2 (challenge myself creatively) with a few projects, including a really fun knitting project i probably won’t wear until this coming fall. the top is from Vogue’s debblie bliss knitting magazine, fall/winter 2010, and involves cables and a sweet blackberry stitch. the pattern requires you to knit a long cabled yoke and pick up the edge to create the top. so far, i’ve finished the yoke and i’ve knit more than half of the front section. i’m knitting with one of my favorite yarns, blue sky alpacas royal alpaca in antique black, which looks more like a very rich dark chocolate brown than black.

might have it done in time to wear it this fall or on a cool spring evening. highly recommend the pattern if you’re looking for something with texture and a medium difficulty level.

it’s sunny here today (finally!) and i’m busy with lots of school work. hoping to get back to knitting later this week. hope it’s warm where you are!
