baby bird

A robin made a nest on our front porch a month ago and C and I decided that given the state of our front yard (disaster!) we might as well leave her be for the spring. C took to calling her Mr. Mr. (still not sure why), and she has finally gotten used to us going in and out the front door. We have gotten used to being very very quiet when we do. We have also gotten used to stepping around Mustard, who sits half-way up the stairs inside, watching them through the window.

We’ve been waiting for her eggs to hatch and last week, there was a lot of tiny chirping. Three babes. They are already twice the size they were a few days ago. Watching them every time I go up and down the stairs and in and our the door makes my day:

Debbie Downer here. Those birds WILL shit all over the place when they get big enough. We had a nest on our front porch last year. Messy, messy business. Still, it was fun. The day they flew from the next was exciting. Once we got all the cats inside.
